Heating the Slippers

How long should I put them in the microwave for?
Microwaves come in different sizes and wattages. Start off at one minute, wait 15 seconds, put your hand inside to see how hot they are, try them on and wear them for awhile. Once they return to room temperature heat them again, this time for 1:15 seconds. Keep doing this until you know how long it will take to make your microwave slippers comfortably warm enough for you in your own microwave. If you take them with you on a visit and are using an unfamiliar microwave observe the same approach. Don’t assume that this microwave is the same as yours.

How do I check the temperature of the slippers?
Take your slippers out of the microwave, wait 15 seconds and then test the temperature with your hand first.

Why do I have to wait until the slippers return to room temperature before heating them again?
This is a safety precaution. If the slippers are still hot and you put them in for your usual 1-4 minutes they may be hotter than you anticipate and this could cause injury.

Use & Care of Your Microwave Slippers

Can I use essential oils or essences in my slippers?
Yes. However, we recommend that you apply a few drops in an inconspicuous place as oils may stain the fabric. Also, as oil can heat quickly in the microwave, do check that this area doesn’t become too hot for your feet.

Can I wear them to bed?
Yes. The easy slip-on/slip-off design makes it easy to kick them off once you are warm enough in bed. (And your spouse will be thrilled that he/she is no longer your de facto foot warmer!)

Is it true that microwaving the slippers will kill any bacteria?
Yes. Putting your microwave slippers in the microwave will sanitize them.

Can I put my microwave slippers in the washing machine or soak them in water?
No! Never immerse them in water. The microwave will sanitize the slipper. To remove dirt or dust from the outside simply rub with warm damp cloth.

General Questions

What is the difference between linseed and flax?
There is no difference. It is simply two names for the same seed.

Why use linseed and not some other grain?
Linseed, like other grains, retains heat well. However, linseeds have been used, in various forms, in wellness in Europe for centuries.

Can I put them in a regular oven?
Yes. Please follow the instructions on the box.

Can I put them in the fridge or freezer to keep my feet cool?
Yes. These slippers retain both heat and cold extremely well. When your feet are hot, simply put the slippers in the fridge or freezer, test to see how cold they are with your hands and then slip them on.
